VC 116 FINAL CLASS BLOG POST

The goal of this Marketing Presentation and Ad project was to understand the process behind designing ads with strategic emphasis. I had to look into the Sakura arts company in order to understand more about their philosophy as well as who they intended to target. I learned that while they are primarily known for their art supplies their pens are also desired by corporate individuals for the waterproof black pigment ink.

With that said I started to move into the more difficult part of design which was how I might incorporate research into drafts. I had to think about how to space out areas for creation. This became difficult. I would move to execute by including my media, but I felt a lot of trouble with targeting a corporate demographic. I drafted about 3 versions for corporate, and I struggled with creating advertisements for artists. Overall I felt successful in learning now to take my work personally, rather to pay attention to whether I was in fact creating work that was specific.

Here is an example of the final ad designed for corporate:

Here are two versions I had to scrap, where I wanted to show how other pens smudge while Pigma Micron Pens do not:

I had a lot more success with the creative ads, I would say, except I am still learning about how to work with good photographs, usually in the 200-300 ppi range:
